Demonetized by inactivity on YouTube

Your channel can be ypp-suspended and demonetized by not uploading a video for 6+ months!

In the past week, YouTube demonetized and unlinked 10 channels from Freedom! for doing nothing wrong, just for doing nothing.

YouTube calls this “inactivity” and only wants active channels monetizing on their platform. It makes sense: all ads and money from demonetized inactive channels are redirected to active channels, motivating those creators to keep uploading. It is a positive feedback loop!

Note: Posting in the Community tab counts as “activity” just the same as uploading a video.

“Inactivity” is an official YouTube policy

We may disable monetization on channels that haven’t uploaded a video or posted to the Community tab for 6 months or more.

We have never seen “inactivity” enforced before, even though it is not a new policy.
